Iyer triumphed over New Zealand's Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra to claim this prestigious award. This achievement signifies consecutive victories for Indian players in the ICC’s monthly recognition, as Shubman Gill received the same honor in February.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This award holds immense significance, particularly in a month when we celebrated winning the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will treasure forever,” Iyer expressed in a statement.

With a total of 243 runs, Iyer emerged as the top run-scorer and played an essential role in India’s Champions Trophy success. His performance included a remarkable 172 runs at an average of 57.33 in the final three matches of the tournament, shining brightly as India secured a landmark third title.

In the decisive group-stage match against New Zealand, Iyer delivered a match-winning performance with 79 runs off 98 balls.

He contributed 45 runs in collaboration with Virat Kohli to help India overcome a tough semi-final against Australia, and once again laid the groundwork for a successful chase in the thrilling final against New Zealand, scoring a composed 48 runs off 62 balls as India clinched victory by four wickets.
