Vadodara, Jan 11 (NationPress) India’s top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja engaged in intensive practice through a specialized training session at the Kotambi Stadium, gearing up for the first ODI against New Zealand.
In a recent video released by the BCCI, Jadeja demonstrated a distinctive bowling drill. He was targeting the ball between various colored cones placed on the ground, following the guidance of bowling coach Morne Morkel, who was actively supervising the Indian star.
"The coach assigned me a task: when I prepare to deliver the ball, he will call out a color—blue, green, or red. I must pitch the ball accurately near that designated color, mimicking a real match scenario," Jadeja explained.
"Additionally, he had two blue balls set for full deliveries. He provided last-minute instructions on where to aim the ball," he added, detailing the exercise.
Jadeja heads into this series with a wealth of form, fitness, and self-assurance. He has shown impressive skills in domestic cricket recently, scoring an unbeaten 52 against Gujarat and following it up with 36 runs and figures of 1-48 against Services in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Over his 15-year career, Jadeja has built a commendable ODI record against New Zealand, amassing 386 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.25, while also claiming 10 wickets.
After missing out on the Australia series, Jadeja made his ODI comeback in the home series against South Africa, showcasing his all-round capabilities.
The first ODI in Kotambi will be followed by the second match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 14, and the third and final match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 18.
