Mangaluru, Jan 27 (NationPress) Swimmers from Karnataka made a significant impact at the second edition of the Den Den Sea Swimming Championship, achieving an impressive total of 51 medals, which included 17 gold, 18 silver, and 17 bronze.
The state's impressive performance was showcased as they dominated various categories in the open-water event held at the beautiful Mangalore Surf Club beach. The championship, organized by the Mangalore Surf Club, attracted over 200 competitors from nine states participating in five different categories.
Karnataka's supremacy was especially clear in the 250m and 500m races, where they claimed all 12 medals across both men's and women's divisions. Additionally, they secured 19 medals in the 1.5km category, 15 medals in the 3km category, and 5 medals in the newly added 6km category.
While Karnataka achieved the majority of the medals, other states also performed well. Tamil Nadu swimmers brought home four medals, while Maharashtra and Goa each secured three medals, and Gujarat, West Bengal, and Delhi contributed with one or two medals each.
