Karun Nair Achieves Record for Most Runs Scored Without Being Dismissed in List A Cricket

Vizianagaram, Jan 3 (NationPress) Indian batsman and captain of Vidarbha, Karun Nair, has made history by setting a world record for the highest number of consecutive runs scored in List A cricket without being dismissed, totaling over 500 runs before eventually losing his wicket in the match against Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In pursuit of a challenging target of 308 runs, Nair spearheaded Vidarbha's efforts with a stunning 112-run performance, marking his first dismissal in Vidarbha's fourth match of the tournament. His innings, along with opener Yash Rathod’s century, was crucial to the team's chase, bringing them closer to victory.

Nair broke the previous world record of 527 consecutive runs in List A cricket without dismissal, held by New Zealand’s James Franklin since 2010. By the conclusion of his innings, he had accumulated 542 runs, becoming the first Indian batsman to reach this milestone.

The 33-year-old has displayed extraordinary form throughout the tournament. His historic scoring spree began with an unbeaten 112 against Jammu and Kashmir in a successful chase. He then followed it with a steady 44 not out against Chhattisgarh before achieving remarkable heights with back-to-back centuries: a powerful 163 not out against Chandigarh and a graceful 111 not out against Tamil Nadu.

Nair’s consistent performances not only helped maintain Vidarbha's unbeaten streak but also propelled the team to the top of Group E with 16 points. His capacity to anchor the innings, score freely, and guide his team to victory highlights his significant role as both a leader and a batsman.

Nair was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for ₹50 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
