Canterbury, July 8 (NationPress) Kent Cricket has formally declared the acquisition of South African fast bowler Keith Dudgeon for the entire 2026 season, pending regulatory approval. The 29-year-old had initially signed with Kent for a limited overseas stint at the beginning of the 2025 season, where he achieved his career-best first-class bowling figures of 7-36 on his debut against Northamptonshire. Unfortunately, a knee injury prevented him from making any further appearances.
Dudgeon is set to rejoin Kent from April to September 2026 and will be eligible for selection across all formats.
In List A cricket, Dudgeon has recorded 72 wickets in 47 matches at an average of 23.77. He also maintains a T20 economy rate of 7.62, having taken 40 wickets in 38 T20 matches throughout his career.
He will participate in the One-Day Cup & T20 Blast in 2026, along with the County Championship, including all knockout matches.
In his statement about rejoining Kent for 2026, Dudgeon expressed, “It’s a significant case of unfinished business for me, and I believe it feels the same for the Kent supporters. I’m thrilled to be a Kent player again for the entirety of next season.
“Everyone in the Club made me feel extremely welcome during my brief time in Canterbury, and I’ve been eagerly following the team as much as possible from South Africa while I work diligently to regain full fitness. I wish them all the best for the remainder of this year.
“I can’t wait to play more matches for Kent next summer – including my home debut! I appreciate the trust that Adam (Hollioake), Simon (Cook), and the Board at Kent have placed in me for 2026,” Dudgeon stated.
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, commented, “Keith made a lasting impression during his short but impactful time with us earlier this season. He is doing well in his rehabilitation following successful knee surgery and is expected to return to play before Christmas for his domestic team in South Africa, Boland.
“We are all excited to welcome him back to the team for the entire 2026 season,” he added.
