Kolkata Knight Riders Launch New Jersey for IPL 2026
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) The three-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have revealed their fresh jersey in anticipation of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, featuring the captivating theme of Lines of Legacy.
Central to this design are the remarkable moments that have significantly influenced KKR's journey throughout the years. From the legendary opening night when Brendon McCullum scored 158* in 2008 to Rinku Singh hitting five sixes in a single over, KKR has created numerous unforgettable moments that have etched themselves into IPL history.
Each iconic incident acts as a line in the franchise's illustrious narrative, and together, these lines form the initials (K) (K) (R) in a style reminiscent of abstract linear art.
In a statement, KKR expressed, "This season, those lines are not merely memories - they are intricately woven into the jersey itself, allowing supporters to don a piece of the team's narrative."
Commenting on the jersey launch, Venky Mysore, Chief Executive Officer of Knight Riders Sports, stated, "The Lines of Legacy encapsulates KKR's rich history and honors the team's journey over the years. Each line signifies a crucial moment of brilliance, reflecting the energy and spirit that unite to form our identity. We take pride in the legacy we have established and aim to carry it forward into the upcoming season while creating new memories for our fans to cherish."
According to the initial 20-match schedule released by the BCCI, KKR will commence their campaign with an away match against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, at Wankhede Stadium on March 29.
Their first home match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 2. The iconic Eden Gardens is expected to be awash in purple as numerous fans flock in wearing their jerseys to show their allegiance.
The team will face the 2025 IPL runners-up, Punjab Kings, at the same venue on April 6, followed by a third consecutive home match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 9.
KKR has bolstered their squad during the IPL 2026 auction, acquiring marquee players such as Cameron Green, Matheesha Pathirana, and Finn Allen, in addition to signing Rovman Powell, an all-rounder from West Indies, to fill the void left by Andre Russell.
