Kush Maini Makes History: First Indian to Win FIA Formula 2 Constructors’ Championship at Abu Dhabi GP

Abu Dhabi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Kush Maini has once again made history in the Formula 2 2024 season. The Invicta Racing team has emerged victorious in the F2 Constructor’s Championship, making the 24-year-old the first and only Indian to achieve a FIA Constructors’ World Championship at the highest level of Junior Formula.
This remarkable accomplishment adds to a fantastic year for Kush, who previously became the first Indian to secure an F2 pole position. Despite facing various challenges throughout the season, Kush was instrumental in Invicta's triumph, achieving five podium finishes, including a race victory in Hungary. His pole position in Jeddah set the foundation for the team’s impressive campaign, culminating in a 34.5-point lead over Cambos Racing—Kush’s former team.
In the concluding race, Maini delivered an impressive qualifying round in Abu Dhabi, securing P6 and executing even better starts in both races. He advanced six positions during the sprint in his first lap and three in the feature race. However, damage to his floor set him back during the sprint, and a stalled pitstop hindered his efforts to finish the season on a high note in the feature race on Sunday.
“This wasn’t the year I envisioned given our strong start, but there are still numerous positives to take away, including the Constructors Championship. I extend my gratitude to everyone at Invicta for a great season and wish them all the best for the future. I am excited about what lies ahead and ready to tackle next year,” Maini stated after this remarkable achievement.
This groundbreaking victory not only solidifies Maini's legacy in Indian motorsport history but also highlights his perseverance and commitment throughout a challenging yet fulfilling season. As he looks forward to the next chapter of his career, Kush embodies the aspirations of a nation eager for increased representation on the global motorsport platform.
