West Sussex, July 11 (NationPress) BWT Alpine Formula One Team Reserve Driver Kush Maini spearheaded the team’s participation on the opening day of the esteemed Goodwood Festival of Speed, tackling the legendary Hill Climb in the podium-finishing A523, which is Alpine’s contender for the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship.
This event marked Kush’s second appearance at Goodwood, where he proudly represented Alpine, initiating the team’s celebration of its 70th anniversary. Behind the wheel of the A523, Kush led a breathtaking showcase of Alpine vehicles up the hill, featuring the classic A110 Berlinette, the A110 R, the A290, the all-new A390, and the futuristic Alpenglow concept hypercar.
Currently engaged in FIA Formula 2, Kush, as the reserve driver, was the sole representative of Alpine during Thursday’s Formula 1 demonstration alongside other teams, coinciding with the festival’s celebration of 75 years of the sport.
The A523 was piloted by Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, securing fifth place in the 2023 FIA Formula One Constructors' World Championship with two remarkable podium finishes at the Monaco and Dutch Grands Prix, in addition to a third-place finish in the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint Race. The 2023 car showcased the team’s 2025 livery, featuring striking blue and pink racing colors.
Due to his obligations with Mahindra Racing’s Formula E team at the Berlin Rookie Test, Kush’s time at the Festival of Speed was brief. Nevertheless, his presence at this iconic event continues to bolster India’s motorsport reputation on the global stage.
“Returning to Goodwood after my first visit last year was a true delight, especially as we celebrate 75 years of Formula One and 70 years of Alpine. Driving the A523 on the Hill Climb was exhilarating, especially after experiencing the E20 last year. Goodwood is definitely a fan-favorite event, and I loved seeing the enthusiastic crowd,” Kush remarked.
