Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) The ART Grand Prix racing team has officially announced the addition of India's Kush Maini to their roster for the 2026 Formula 2 season.
Maini, having celebrated victories in two races and securing seven podium finishes during the Championship, is gearing up for his fourth season in Formula 2.
Prior to his Formula 2 career, Maini was the runner-up in the 2020 BRDC British F3 Championship and finished 14th, with one podium, in the 2022 FIA Formula 3 season.
The talented Indian driver is excited about collaborating with ART and is ready to race in Formula One for another season. "I’m thrilled to join such a prestigious team as ART Grand Prix. My initial interactions with the engineers and mechanics have been very encouraging. I value the commitment and camaraderie within the team, and I'm eager to start working with them to see what we can accomplish together," said Maini.
ART Grand Prix Team Principal Sébastien Philippe commented: "Kush has demonstrated impressive speed and maturity in Formula 2, with his victory in Monaco showcasing his potential. We are delighted to have him on board and anticipate a fruitful collaboration in 2026."
Earlier this month, the Alpine Formula One Team revealed Maini's signing for the A525 during the post-season Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi.
Maini will share the track with current Alpine driver Pierre Gasly and compete alongside various other F1 contenders. He has already amassed significant experience through Alpine’s Testing Previous Cars (TPC) programme and extensive simulator work with the Alpine Academy, pivotal steps in a year marked by significant progress.
His groundbreaking victory in Monaco made him the first Indian to win at the legendary street circuit. Earlier this year, he was also appointed as one of BWT Alpine’s Test & Reserve Drivers, marking him as the first Indian in 13 years to hold an official position with a Formula 1 team. His participation on December 9 will make him only the third Indian to take part in an official F1 session.
