Manchester, June 25 (NationPress) Victor Lindelof has shared that he will forever be a Manchester United supporter, even as he parts ways with the club this summer. After a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa on the last day of the Premier League season, United confirmed that Lindelof, alongside Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans, would not have their contracts renewed.
Having dedicated so much time to the team, the Swedish defender feels he received the farewell he desired during that final match against the Villans.
"An ideal conclusion. A clean sheet and a win made it a wonderful farewell. Sharing that moment with my family on the pitch afterwards was extra special. So, truly, I couldn’t have wished for a better sending off," Lindelof told MUTV.
Over his eight-year tenure, the Swedish international made an impressive 284 appearances for the Reds, securing trophies in the Carabao Cup and the Emirates FA Cup in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Despite this fitting finale, he acknowledges that the journey also had its challenges.
"Yes, I take pride in my journey. There have been many ups and downs. But being able to represent this club for eight years has been a true honor and a dream realized," Lindelof reflected.
When reminiscing about his favorite memories in the Manchester United jersey, Lindelof pointed to the memorable 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Wembley during the 2023/24 season.
"Winning the FA Cup was fantastic. It’s such a historic tournament, and to claim victory in it was incredible," he remarked.
The 30-year-old is now preparing for his next chapter and emphasized that he will always remain a fan of Manchester United.
"I may be leaving as a player, but my support will always be with the club. I wish the best for the players and everyone associated with the club. Here’s hoping next season will bring better fortunes than this one. I am confident it will," he concluded.
