Manchester, Sep 12 (NationPress) Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has officially transferred on loan to Trabzonspor for the 2025/26 season, pending international clearance and registration.
This transition has been finalized just before the closing of the Turkish transfer window on Friday.
Trabzonspor announced, "We have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the temporary transfer of professional footballer Andre Onana to our club for the 2025-2026 season."
The 29-year-old Cameroon international has played 102 matches for the Reds since his arrival from Italian club Inter Milan in July 2023.
During his inaugural season in Manchester, Onana participated in all but one match and celebrated an FA Cup victory after a stellar team effort against Manchester City in the final at Wembley.
He consistently held the starting position in the 2024/25 season, becoming the first goalkeeper to earn the Premier League’s Save of the Month award three times.
Onana appeared 50 times in his second season and has now accepted a loan opportunity with Trabzonspor.
So far this season, the goalkeeper has made only one appearance for United, which ended in a penalty defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
A hamstring injury sidelined Onana during the pre-season, and he made a critical error in his first match of the new campaign, leading to a disappointing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby.
His time at United has been further complicated by the signing of Senne Lammens, a 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, on deadline day from Royal Antwerp for an initial fee of 21 million euros (£18.1m) plus add-ons.
With Lammens, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton now part of the squad, Ruben Amorim's team is set to visit Manchester City in the Premier League this Sunday.
