Litton Das Acknowledges Drop from Champions Trophy Squad Due to Underperformance

New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) Litton Das, the wicketkeeper-batter from Bangladesh, has openly recognized that his omission from the 2025 Champions Trophy squad was a result of his subpar performance in the format.

Following his exclusion from the eight-team tournament, Litton delivered a remarkable performance, scoring an unbeaten 125 off just 55 balls for Dhaka Capitals against Durbar Rajshahi in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

"The selection for the Champions Trophy was out of my hands. The selectors made their decision on who to include. My responsibility is to perform, and I have not done that. I felt a bit disappointed about it. My mindset remains the same before and after today's game. That day is already behind me," he stated.

"While I played a good innings, it's now a part of the past. I begin fresh from this point. I will continue to work hard and see what the future holds. I received a clear indication about my performance. It may not have come directly from the selectors, but it is evident why I was not chosen for the team. I was dropped due to my lack of performance. There is nothing to conceal; it is straightforward and typical," Litton shared with ESPNCricinfo.

Litton has scored in single digits during his last seven ODI innings, with his last half-century in this format occurring in October 2023. "While my supporters will cheer for me, negativity arises when I underperform. However, that is not my concern. I am focused on my improvement," he remarked.

"I have not been playing well, so I need to enhance my game. Change won't happen overnight; I must persist in my efforts. People will appreciate my performance when I score runs. My goal is not to prove anything to anyone but to seek progress. I have not performed well in recent months, and I aim to achieve greater consistency going forward, especially after this innings," he concluded.
