Mumbai, April 27 (NationPress) The Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians in Match 45 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Given that the Wankhede pitch is anticipated to favor bowlers in the initial innings, it was expected that LSG's captain Rishabh Pant would opt to bowl first.
Lucknow made a strategic change by introducing their quick bowler Mayank Yadav in place of Shardul Thakur. The Mumbai Indians welcomed Corbin Bosch for his debut, replacing Mitchell Santner due to a minor injury. Additionally, Karn Sharma returned to the MI squad while Jasprit Bumrah started on the bench.
Pant remarked that it is a batting-friendly wicket, and even though LSG's record of 6-1 against MI is promising, he aims to stay focused.
Although Hardik Pandya usually prefers to field first at the Wankhede, given the intense heat and humidity during the afternoon match, the Mumbai Indians' captain expressed no issue with batting first.
"We are comfortable batting. It's all about the mindset; staying hydrated is key, and we aim to concentrate on the right aspects," he stated.
