New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Asserting that ‘Lotus’ is primed to flourish, the President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, projected a robust victory for the party in the MCD by-elections across two wards where polling occurred on Sunday.
“The enthusiasm displayed by the voters leaves no doubt that the BJP will achieve a remarkable victory,” stated Sachdeva after engaging with party members in Vinod Nagar.
He remarked, “Vinod Nagar has consistently been a BJP bastion; this time even AAP supporters are discontent due to Arvind Kejriwal's decision to field a corrupt female leader who has previously been incarcerated, leading them to choose the BJP's candidate known for her integrity.”
Sachdeva praised the BJP candidate for the seat, Sarla Choudhary, highlighting her clean reputation and the community's trust in her commitment; he believes she will secure an easy win.
Sachdeva declined to speculate on the number of seats the BJP might win in the 12 wards. “I have faith that ‘Lotus’ will certainly bloom. The counting of numbers should be left to those concerned about the results,” he mentioned.
In a post on X, he stated, “During the voting process for the corporation by-elections, I met with workers in Dichau Kalan Ward 128. The disciplined efforts, commitment, and duty exhibited have strengthened this democratic process.”
Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta cast her vote in the MCD bye-election at AP Block in Shalimar Bagh, encouraging voters in all 12 wards to step out and exercise their right to create a 'Viksit Delhi'.
At her polling location, the Chief Minister was accompanied by her spouse, Manish Gupta, along with other family members.
After voting, she posed at a selfie booth, declaring, “This is a celebration of democracy, with by-elections occurring for 12 seats in Delhi. I urge the people of Delhi, particularly those in these 12 wards, to maximize their voting participation.”
She emphasized, “Their votes can help elect the most deserving representatives, accelerating Delhi’s development. Every citizen should utilize their voting rights. Only when our youth, women, and elderly fully engage in the by-elections can we present the finest image of democracy.”
Approximately 698,000 registered voters were eligible to cast their ballots on Sunday in the elections featuring 51 candidates across 12 MCD wards. Results will be announced on December 3.
In total, 580 polling stations were established for the by-elections in the 12 wards: Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka B, Dichaon Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar-A, Dakshin Puri (SC), Greater Kailash, and Vinod Nagar.
