New Delhi, Oct 28 (NationPress) The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, stated on Tuesday that he is optimistic about the party's performance in the by-elections for 12 vacant wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, scheduled for November 30.

This election marks the first political contest since the Assembly elections in February and is being viewed as a referendum on the effectiveness of the BJP-led MCD and the Delhi government headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Results of this civic by-election will be released on December 3.

Sachdeva expressed his belief that the outcome will be overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP.

He pointed out that in the last eight months, residents of Delhi have experienced a notable transformation in the city's development, maintenance, and administrative strategies following the establishment of the BJP’s “triple-engine” government.

The term “triple engine” is used by BJP officials to describe the collaboration between the BJP-led Central government, the Delhi government, and the MCD.

According to Sachdeva, since the formation of the triple-engine government, there has been a new vigor in Delhi’s development, marked by significant arrangements for the Kanwar and Chhath festivals and the initiative to conduct artificial rainfall to combat pollution.

“Hence, in the forthcoming by-elections, we expect a strong endorsement from the electorate for the BJP,” asserted the Delhi BJP President.

The wards where by-elections are set to take place include Vinod Nagar, Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Greater Kailash, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandi Mahal, Dwarka-B, Dichaon Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar-A, and Dakshin Puri.

Out of these 12 wards, nine were previously represented by BJP councilors, while three were held by leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party. Eleven wards became vacant as the sitting councilors were elected to the Delhi Assembly, with Dwarka-B vacated when Kamaljeet Sehrawat won a seat in the Lok Sabha last year.

As per the schedule released by the State Election Commission (SEC), the notification for the by-elections will be issued on November 3, with nominations open from November 3 to 10, and the final date for withdrawal being November 15.

The SEC stated that the Model Code of Conduct will be implemented immediately in the vacant wards and will remain effective until the election process concludes.

Earlier that day, Sachdeva, along with party leaders and volunteers, participated in a cleanup of the banks of the Yamuna following the conclusion of the Chhath festival.

In collaboration with Delhi Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, he initiated a symbolic campaign aimed at cleaning all natural and artificial Chhath Ghats along the Yamuna, organized by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi through community service.

“We have allotted four working days for the MCD to clean all the Chhath Ghats, with all BJP MPs, MLAs, and councilors in Delhi actively supporting the workers through a symbolic campaign along the ghats,” concluded the BJP leader.

Point of View

The ongoing political dynamics in Delhi reflect a broader narrative of governance and public sentiment. The upcoming MCD by-elections serve as a critical assessment of the ruling party's efficacy and public outreach. As stakeholders await the results, the electoral process emphasizes the importance of responsive governance in a democratic setup.
