New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, energized party members on Monday to prepare for the forthcoming MCD by-elections, stressing the importance of the motto “Our votes before lunch.”
Sachdeva highlighted that these by-elections present a significant opportunity for party workers to lay the groundwork for the major Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for 2027.
During his address to supporters, Vistarak workers, and booth managers for BJP candidates — Dr. Chandrakanta from Naraina ward and Suman Kumar Gupta from Chandni Chowk — he emphasized the importance of unity and determination.
At the Naraina ward meeting, notable attendees included Karol Bagh District President Virendra Babbar, Naraina Mandal President Anshu Tanwar, MLAs Umang Bajaj and Harish Khurana, along with State Vice President Vinay Rawat, Minister Sona Kumari, and former MLA Subhash Sachdeva, along with numerous Vistarak workers and booth managers.
In the Chandni Chowk Mandal meeting, key speakers included MP Praveen Khandelwal, District President Arvind Garg, District In-charge Rajesh Bhatia, Election Coordinator Pankaj Jain, and Mandal President Rohit Sharma.
Sachdeva stated, “Both Naraina and Chandni Chowk are our traditional strongholds.” He reminisced about winning Naraina even in challenging circumstances in 2022, and noted the narrow loss in Chandni Chowk that same year. “Today, the voters regret it, and we will reclaim both wards,” he asserted.
He further stressed the necessity of ensuring every vote within the party's network is cast. “Our motto must be ‘Our votes before lunch.’ With this determination, a significant victory is assured,” he declared.
Delhi BJP’s Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, along with Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pradesh General Secretary Vishnu Mittal, and District President Ajay Khatana, also engaged with workers and senior citizens in Ashok Vihar and Shalimar Bagh wards.
MLA Satish Upadhyay and District President Ravinder Chaudhary convened a meeting of New Delhi District workers to assign them to the Greater Kailash ward election.
MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Minister Pankaj Singh spoke to workers in Dhichkau Kalan ward, while MLA Manoj Shokeen addressed Mundka ward, and MLA Harish Khurana interacted with Ashok Vihar residents. Mahila Morcha President Richa Pandey Mishra held a women's conference in Chandni Chowk ward.
Rana pointed out that the upcoming by-elections are a chance for workers to replicate the success seen in the recent 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 Assembly elections.
Throughout the day, BJP Municipal Corporation candidates engaged in door-to-door campaigning across all 12 wards where the by-elections will take place on November 30, with results expected on December 3.
Candidates include: Anjum Mandal from Greater Kailash; Suman Kumar Gupta from Chandni Chowk; Sunil Sharma from Chandni Mahal; Jaipal Singh Darral from Mundka; Anita Jain from Shalimar Bagh-B; Veena Asija from Ashok Vihar; Manisha Rajpal Sehrawat from Dwarka-B; Rekha Rani from Dichau Kalan; Dr. Chandrakala Shivani from Naraina; Shubhrajeet Gautam from Sangam Vihar-A; Rohini Raj from Dakshinpuri; and Sarla Chaudhary from Vinod Nagar.
