Delhi Elections: A Choice Between AAP's Corruption and BJP's Development, States JP Nadda

New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) BJP President J P Nadda has conducted a review of the preparations for the impending Delhi Assembly elections, urging party leaders to engage with fresh demographics from different social strata and localities to maximize electoral influence. He emphasized that “this election provides a chance to select between Arvind Kejriwal’s” “deceit and corruption” and the BJP's “truth and development”.

Nadda visited the BJP's Delhi unit office, dedicating over four hours to discussions with poll in-charges, panel members, state officials, and various organizational representatives.

He assessed the arrangements for the elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly slated for February 5.

Nadda expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a full majority to form the government in Delhi, as stated by a BJP representative.

“The BJP President mentioned that outreach initiatives and campaigns should prioritize engaging with new audiences to win their support for improved electoral outcomes. He remarked that conversing with the same supporters of the party yields minimal results,” said a senior BJP official from Delhi.

During the review, it was noted that over a hundred thousand women have been approached through various initiatives and campaigns thus far.

The BJP Chief encouraged the party's Mahila Morcha (women’s wing) to connect with even more women ahead of the elections.

He aimed to uplift the spirit of BJP leaders, stating that the entire party must unite to ensure a successful election outcome, according to the official.

Some attendees of the meeting noted that Nadda informed leaders about the limited availability of tickets, emphasizing that not everyone can be granted one.

He pointed out that a true leader remains undeterred by not receiving an opportunity to contest. “A leader will always be a leader, regardless of whether they receive a ticket,” he remarked.

In two separate gatherings, Nadda engaged with the Election Coordination Committee and the Election Management Committee to obtain updates on electoral arrangements and provide suggestions for enhancement, as per the party's statement.

These meetings, presided over by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, included Delhi election in-charge Baijayant Panda, co-in-charge Atul Garg, State General Secretary (Organisation) Pawan Rana, poll coordination chief and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, along with co-head Manoj Tiwari, among others.

In response to Nadda’s allegations against party convener Arvind Kejriwal, AAP issued a statement asserting, “The people of Delhi are aware that all corrupt leaders in the country have joined the BJP, while Arvind Kejriwal stands as an honest leader who has tirelessly worked for their welfare.”

“Kejriwal has delivered free electricity, a world-class healthcare system, and an education model among other achievements, which the BJP has failed to replicate in any of its 20 states,” AAP added.

The BJP has announced candidates for 29 out of the 70 seats, with the remaining candidates expected to be disclosed shortly as the Central Election Committee (CEC) convenes on Friday.

The BJP is making comprehensive efforts to regain power after over 26 years.

The party won its first Assembly elections in Delhi in 1993 but has been out of power since 1998, losing to Congress in three consecutive elections until 2013 and subsequently to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

In the last two elections of 2015 and 2020, the BJP faced significant losses against AAP, managing only three and eight seats, respectively.

Various electoral committees, including those for campaigns, manifesto development, and narrative construction, among others, presented reports to the BJP Chief.
