New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) In a significant blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) right before the Delhi Assembly elections, the Youth Wing’s State Vice President, Kapil Nagar, has defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday.

In addition to Nagar, over 200 AAP members from the Model Town Assembly constituency have also joined the BJP, as stated by BJP candidate Ashok Goyal.

Delhi BJP spokespersons Nitin Tyagi and Shubhendu Shekhar Awasthi welcomed Nagar into the party.

Nagar expressed his commitment to collaborate with BJP members to ensure a successful outcome for the Model Town Assembly constituency.

BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh remarked that the political landscape in Delhi has transformed dramatically, with individuals from all backgrounds, especially the youth and women, rallying behind the BJP to build a prosperous Delhi.

Previously, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva questioned AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal regarding his reported low income in the election affidavit submitted for the New Delhi constituency.

Sachdeva reiterated his inquiry to Kejriwal: "How could your income tax returns over the past ten years reflect earnings lower than your basic salary, yet during the COVID period when the liquor policy was established, your income soared by 40 times?"

He also criticized former Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia for securing a personal loan of Rs 1.5 crore for his son's education in Canada.

“Sisodia’s election affidavit reveals that, like ordinary citizens, he maintains fixed deposits in banks, yet he has acquaintances who lend him substantial amounts, even for long durations,” he stated, questioning the undisclosed conditions regarding the Rs 1.54 crore loans granted to the spouse of the former minister who formulated the controversial liquor policy.

Sisodia’s affidavit highlights that his wife's pending loans for their son’s education comprise Rs 86 lakh from Romesh Chander Mittal, Rs 58 lakh from Guneet Arora, and Rs 10 lakh from Deepali.

Mittal and Arora are linked to two MPs from Punjab, raising concerns about the potential quid pro quo behind Sisodia's easy loan acquisition.

The affidavit identifies his son Meer Sisodia as a dependent and provides information on Scotiabank, 392 Bay Street, Toronto, where the AAP leader has established three separate accounts to manage funds for his son's education. It also details foreign exchange assets amounting to approximately Canadian $3,980 (Rs 2.4 lakh) in the overseas bank.
