Gwalior, June 19 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his admiration for the launch of the Madhya Pradesh Women’s League 2025, deeming it a significant achievement for the state of Madhya Pradesh. The first edition of the league commenced on Thursday at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.
Scindia, who recently inaugurated the second season of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL), emphasized that the ongoing league symbolizes women's empowerment and provides a platform for young female athletes in the state to excel.
"Our daughters in Madhya Pradesh will now showcase their talents on the field. The launch of the MP Women’s Cricket League 2025 at Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium represents a remarkable and momentous occasion in the history of our state," Scindia noted in a tweet.
He further added, "This tournament stands as a beacon of women's empowerment and offers our girls a chance to shine. It fills me with great pride and joy to see the daughters of our state making their mark across the nation through their hard work and talent."
The opening match featured the Bundelkhand Bulls Women against the Bhopal Wolves Women, which began with excitement until rain disrupted play. The Bundelkhand Bulls scored 109/8, led by Priyanka Koushal's impressive 4-wicket haul. Bhopal Wolves reached 25/1 before rain halted the game.
The match will be rescheduled soon. On June 20, the Bundelkhand Bulls will face the Chambal Ghariyals Women, followed by a clash against the Bhopal Wolves on June 21.
The league will culminate with the final on June 24, where the top two teams will compete for the inaugural championship title.
