Yuvraj Sandhu from Chandigarh, who clinched the title at the PGTI season-opener in Kolkata last week, and Om Prakash Chouhan from Mhow, were tied for second with scores of four-under 32.

Rohit Narwal from Karnal and Mohd Azhar from Hyderabad shared the fourth position with scores of three-under 33. The defending champion Abhinav Lohan returned a score of two-under 34, placing him tied for sixth.

The initial two rounds of the competition consist of nine holes each. Following 18 holes, the cut will be implemented. The third and fourth rounds will each consist of 18 holes, totaling 54 holes for the tournament. The par for the course in the first two rounds is 36.

On Tuesday, Manu Gandas successfully hit fairways, generating multiple birdie opportunities at a location where he has previously excelled. An eight-time PGTI champion, Manu converted three long-range birdies, including a remarkable 30-footer on the final ninth hole. He also made two birdies from within three feet, one resulting from an exceptional bunker shot.

Manu expressed, “It was a solid day for me as I missed just one fairway. My putting was also on point. I created many chances with my consistent hitting. I have fond memories of this course having won here in 2022. I feel quite at home playing at Glade One.”

“After a slow start to the season last week in Kolkata where my game wasn’t at its best, I needed a strong opening round this week. I’m pleased I adhered to my game plan and posted a good score on day one to lay a solid foundation for further progress.”

Among local professionals, Varun Parikh from Ahmedabad performed best with an even-par 36, placing him tied for 36th.
