Among the local professionals from Ahmedabad, Varun Parikh secured the highest position at tied 48th after shooting a 74.

Pukhraj Singh Gill’s round of 66 was remarkable for being bogey-free. The 28-year-old showcased his exceptional ball-striking skills, hitting most fairways and greens, and achieved three birdies on both the front and back nine.

He made two easy tap-ins and chipped in for a birdie on the 15th after sinking a 15-footer for another birdie.

“This course aligns well with my game, rewarding good ball-striking, especially off the tees. I played both nines effectively. The early wind made the pars at the start very stabilizing, providing a decent launch. A bogey-free beginning is always appreciated,” said Pukhraj.

“I have maintained a consistent performance this season and feel comfortable on this course, which boosts my confidence for this week.”

Abhinav Lohan, a seasoned winner of multiple PGTI titles, matched Pukhraj’s score with seven birdies and one bogey in his first round.

The 15-year-old son of Indian golf legend Jeev Milkha Singh, Harjai Milkha Singh, who is participating as an amateur, carded an 81 on Wednesday, placing him tied for 110th.

The tournament at Kalhaar Blues & Greens features a field of 126 players, including 123 professionals and three amateurs. It follows a stroke-play format consisting of four rounds of 18 holes each. The top 50 players and ties will advance after two rounds, with a course par of 72.
