Ahmedabad, Feb 20 (NationPress) Chandigarh’s Yuvraj Sandhu has positioned himself excellently for consecutive victories on the PGTI Tour, holding a narrow one-shot advantage at 10-under 134 following the third round of the INR 1 crore Gujarat Open 2025 hosted at the Glade One Golf Resort & Club here on Thursday.

Sandhu (32-34-68), who clinched victory in the season opener in Kolkata last week, delivered a consistent four-under 68 on Thursday, despite grappling with a cold putter. The 27-year-old golfer retained his overnight lead, although his margin was reduced from two shots to just one.

Golfers from Delhi, Kshitij Naveed Kaul and Arjun Prasad, recorded the day’s best scores of seven-under 65, closing in on the leader and tying for second place at nine-under 135. Both Kshitij and Arjun surged up eight spots from their previous tied 10th position.

Defending champion Abhinav Lohan shot a 68, improving four positions to end the day tied for sixth at six-under 138. Varun Parikh from Ahmedabad (75) found himself tied for 39th at one-over 145.

The initial two rounds of the event were played on nine holes each, while the third and fourth rounds consist of 18 holes. The tournament will be played over a total of 54 holes, with the par for the course in the third and fourth rounds set at 72. The nine-hole course was played twice during round three with varied pin placements.

Sandhu’s round was marked by impressive ball striking, missing just one green. He made five birdies by the 11th hole before recording his only bogey of the day on the 13th. Sandhu scored birdies on three out of the four par-5s and executed an excellent tee shot for a tap-in birdie on the par-3 fourth hole.

At the conclusion of the day’s play, Sandhu remarked, “I had a strong start today, but the cold putter resulted in a subdued back-nine. Leading despite my putter not performing at its best for two consecutive days is truly gratifying. I’m excited about the possibility of playing alongside my good friend and roommate Arjun Prasad. I’ve never played in a leader group with him, so it should be enjoyable.”

Kshitij Naveed Kaul made a chip-in for eagle on the 14th hole, complemented by some solid up-and-downs for birdies during his round of 65, moving him into contention. Arjun Prasad, on his part, executed some fantastic recoveries from the bunker to also inch within one shot of the leader, thanks to his 65.
