Jamshedpur, Dec 28 (NationPress) Yuvraj Sandhu has further cemented his legacy by clinching his seventh title of the 2025 season at the Tata Open, following a nail-biting one-stroke victory. Sandhu had already secured the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit title after achieving his sixth win just two weeks prior.

The 28-year-old golfer from Chandigarh (67-64-68-65) was an overnight joint leader and capped off the tournament with a stunning final round of six-under 65, marked by a crucial birdie on the final hole, bringing his total to an impressive 20-under 264 for the week. This event, boasting a prize pool of INR 2 crore, served as the season finale for the PGTI, held at the prestigious Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses in Jamshedpur.

Having topped the PGTI Ranking, Sandhu has secured his place in the DP World Tour for the 2026 season, while also establishing a new benchmark for the most wins in a single season on the PGTI. Just weeks earlier in Delhi, he had tied the previous record of six wins in a season held by Manu Gandas since 2022.

In the final round, Chandigarh's Shubham Jaglan (68-66-65-66), who was also tied for the lead, delivered a flawless five-under 66, finishing with a total of 19-under 265, marking his second runner-up finish on the PGTI in just his third tour appearance.

Both Khalin Joshi (66) and Veer Ahlawat (66) secured a tie for third place, finishing at 14-under 270.

With his victory, Sandhu collected a winner's cheque of INR 30 lakh, elevating his total earnings for the season to an astounding INR 1,91,67,100, surpassing the previous record for a season set by Veer Ahlawat at INR 1,56,35,724 in 2024.

Yuvraj, representing the Chandigarh Golf Club, not only won seven titles this season but also recorded seven other top-10 finishes, including three runner-up placements.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan golfer N. Thangaraja, who has claimed three titles on the PGTI this year, finished second in the rankings with earnings of INR 1,18,21,821, securing fifth place at Jamshedpur with a total of 13-under 271.

In the opening rounds, half of the participants played at the Beldih Golf Club while the other half competed at Golmuri Golf Club. For the final two rounds, the leading groups played their front-nine at Golmuri before transitioning to Beldih for the back-nine. The combined par for both courses was 71.

Sandhu started strong, notching birdies on the first two holes. He maintained his momentum by sinking additional birdies on the sixth and ninth holes. Despite two bogeys on the back nine, he regained his rhythm with three more birdies, culminating in a decisive 15-foot birdie on the 18th hole.

Shubham Jaglan, who turned professional earlier this year, closely followed Sandhu throughout the day, recording three birdies on the front nine and two on the back. Although he played at Golmuri as a junior, this was his first time at Beldih, and he was ultimately edged out by Sandhu's key birdie.

Kudos to Shubham for his fierce competition; he played exceptionally well and has a bright future ahead,” Yuvraj remarked. “Standing over the birdie putt on the last hole, I aimed to ensure it had enough pace since I had left some short earlier in the week. The line and speed worked out perfectly.”

I’ve ticked off significant milestones this year, including victories at the Delhi Golf Club and the TATA Open. Witnessing the legends win the TATA Open in the past fueled my desire to triumph here in Jamshedpur, competing on two courses.”

Jamshedpur’s Kurush Heerjee finished tied for 51st place at 13-over 297.

Additionally, Manoj S., a 17-year-old rookie from Bengaluru, was awarded the PGTI Emerging Player of the Year title with earnings of INR 37,21,945, the highest among newcomers. Manoj finished tied for 12th place at six-under 278 at the season finale, leading to a commendable 21st position in the PGTI Order of Merit after achieving seven top-10 finishes this season.
