New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) Leading the PGTI Rankings, Yuvraj Sandhu, who has clinched five titles on the Tour this year, is on the verge of achieving a remarkable sixth victory at the concluding day of the Vishwa Samudra Open 2025, presented by Kapil Dev. This event, boasting a prize purse of INR 2 crores, is taking place at the esteemed Delhi Golf Club (DGC).
Hailing from Chandigarh, Sandhu (73-69-66) delivered an impeccable six-under 66, which was the best score of the day, propelling him up two spots from his previous tied third position to seize a one-shot lead with a total of eight-under 208.
If Sandhu triumphs and secures his sixth win of 2025, he will equal the PGTI record for the most titles in a season, previously set by Manu Gandas in 2022. Last week in Jaipur, Sandhu fell short of matching this record, finishing as the runner-up after leading for most of the final round.
In second place is Delhi's Rashid Khan (72-70-67), who shot a 67 to elevate his standing to a total of seven-under 209. Khan, a two-time international champion, recorded six birdies alongside a bogey on Thursday, positioning himself as Sandhu’s closest competitor in the title chase. He aims to end a six-year title drought.
Occupying third place is Manu Gandas (71-72-68) at five-under 211 at the conclusion of day three.
Sandhu commenced the day with a birdie on the first hole, then made a couple of impressive long putts for birdies on the seventh and ninth holes. His strong putting continued on the back nine, where he made two more long putts for birdies at the 11th and 13th holes. The day concluded with another birdie on the 14th.
Sandhu expressed, “This week, my caddie and I have developed better clarity in our decision-making. This has greatly contributed to my strong performance over the past two days.”
“After several consecutive weeks on the road, I felt the need for some time to reflect on my game. I rushed back to my home in Chandigarh immediately after the Jaipur event. Even just 24 hours at home allowed me to reflect, and I even enjoyed a game of paddle tennis with friends, which provided a refreshing break from golf,” he added.
