Mysuru, Aug 14 (NationPress) Yuvraj Sandhu showcased a stunning performance on the third day, achieving an impressive eight-under 62, which included two eagles, thereby augmenting his lead to three shots in the Rs 1 crore Mysuru Open 2025. This tournament is a significant highlight in the latter part of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) season.

Displaying remarkable confidence, Sandhu, who has maintained his lead since Round One, elevated his cumulative score to an impressive 22-under 188. The Chandigarh golfer (61-65-62) currently leads the PGTI Order of Merit and is on the brink of clinching his third title of the season.

Jamal Hossain from Bangladesh, who has consistently held second place with scores of 62-65-64, posted a 64 despite missing crucial putts, bringing his total to 19-under 191. Meanwhile, Delhi's Arjun Prasad also shot a 64, securing third place with a cumulative score of 18-under 192 on another cloudy day.

Chandigarh’s Karandeep Kochhar equaled Yuvraj’s tournament best score of 61, advancing 11 spots to tie for fourth place at 17-under 193, featuring one eagle and seven birdies. Michele Ortolani from Italy, who had two eagles on Thursday, also finished the day tied for fourth after a 63. P. Prabhu and Dhruv Bopanna, the two Mysuru-based professionals who made the cut, are tied for 47th at six-under 204.

Sandhu's day began with his first bogey of the week on the second hole. However, he quickly recovered with two birdies and two eagles on the front nine. Notably, on the Par-4 seventh, he landed his tee shot within two feet of the pin for his first eagle, and on the Par-5 ninth, his approach was just three feet from the flag for his second eagle.

The 28-year-old international winner then produced five consecutive birdies from the 10th to the 14th holes, showcasing the synergy of his game. At that moment, he enjoyed a substantial five-shot lead. Unfortunately, he faced a challenging finish, making three bogeys against one birdie, which narrowed his lead.

Reflecting on his performance, Sandhu stated, “Today, I was in a different mental zone, which was evident from my scoring between the seventh and the 14th holes. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the course. It’s the kind of state golfers aim to achieve.

“My calmness and confidence stem from the hard work I invested during the off-season, pushing myself to my limits. I believe that is evident in my confidence when I arrive at a tournament,” he added.

Jamal Hossain managed five birdies over the first 11 holes but missed several opportunities on the greens, ending with two birdies and a bogey over the subsequent seven holes.
