The leader of the Professional Golfers Tour of India (PGTI) Order of Merit, Sandhu (61-65) from Chandigarh, increased his tournament total to 14-under 126.
Jamal Hossain from Bangladesh (62-65) also played flawlessly for the second day in a row, achieving a 65 to remain in second place at 13-under 127. Arjun Prasad from Delhi tied for third with Manu Gandas from Gurugram after posting the day's joint lowest score of 62, both at 12-under 128.
Rashid Khan, another golfer from Delhi, matched the day's lowest score of 62 and is currently tied for fifth with Viraj Madappa (63), Pranav Mardikar (63), and Honey Baisoya (66) at 11-under 129. P. Prabhu (68-66) from Mysuru was the top local professional, sitting in a tied 28th position at six-under 134.
The halfway cut was established at three-under 137 as cloudy and overcast conditions persisted for the second consecutive day, with wind also playing a factor on Wednesday. A total of 62 professionals made the cut.
Despite the windy conditions, Sandhu made consistent gains on Day Two. The winner of the season's first two events birdied all three par-5 holes on the course, showcasing precise iron and wedge play.
The 28-year-old international champion stated, “I’ve faced tough windy conditions in Asia multiple times; therefore, I effectively used that experience today. I felt relaxed, as if I were just continuing from where I left off yesterday.
“Although my putting wasn't as strong today, my chipping around the greens was exceptional. A crucial par-save from six feet on the fifth hole provided me with momentum towards the end of the round.”
On the second day, Hossain struggled with his driving but executed some flawless chip shots, including a chip-in for birdie on the 13th, which led to his 65, keeping him close to the leader.
