Kolkata, Feb 13 (NationPress) Yuvraj Sandhu from Chandigarh maintained his one-shot advantage with a solid two-under 68 during the third day, commonly known as ‘moving day’ in the world of golf. Yuvraj (63-61-68), a previous champion at Tollygunge Club, now boasts a total of 18-under 192 after three days, remaining in the lead for the third straight day at the INR 1 crore PGTI Players Championship 2025 held at The Tollygunge Club Ltd, marking the start of the 2025 PGTI season.

Jamal Hossain from Bangladesh (65-62-66), who had an impressive season on the PGTI last year, reduced the gap with Yuvraj by shooting a 66 in Round Three, totaling 17-under 193 and trailing by just one shot. Rahil Gangjee (63-67-66) of Bengaluru, who grew up playing at this course, also scored a 66 in his third round, placing him third at 14-under 196.

The renowned SSP Chawrasia (71) was the highest-ranked among the local professionals, finishing the day in a tie for 14th place at nine-under 201. Anshul Mishra from Kolkata, the sole amateur to make the cut, recorded a 69 and is tied for 20th at seven-under 203.

Yuvraj, who was leading by three shots overnight, started poorly on Thursday with bogeys on the first two holes. However, he managed to regroup, showcasing his consistent hitting and making a couple of good up and downs that led to four birdies.

Despite his strong performance, the 27-year-old Sandhu struggled with his putting, missing numerous birdie opportunities from four to eight feet.

Yuvraj remarked, “It wasn’t a nervous start, but rather the result of incorrect club selections. I received a wake-up call when Jamal tied with me for the lead. Although I regained my composure, it was one of those days when the putts simply wouldn’t drop for me. Fortunately, it happened on the third day instead of the final day.”

“I’m satisfied with my hitting and aim to maintain the good rhythm into the final round. I just hope my putter behaves well in the last round,” he added.

Jamal Hossain, a former champion at Tollygunge, recorded five birdies and a bogey on Thursday, staying close to the lead. He narrowly missed a chip-in for birdie on the final hole. Last year’s champion Manu Gandas (65) finished the day tied for 20th at seven-under 203.
