Ahmedabad, April 8 (NationPress) Renowned players from the domestic golf circuit, including Ajeetesh Sandhu, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Rahil Gangjee, Rashid Khan, Khalin Joshi, and Olympic golfer Udayan Mane, will compete in the inaugural Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship, a fresh addition to the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), hosted at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club starting Wednesday.

This event, co-organized by Indorama Ventures and the PGTI, runs until April 12 and features a total prize pool of INR 2 crore. Following the main tournament, a Pro-Am event will take place on April 13.

The championship will see participation from 126 players, comprising 123 professionals and three amateurs. Using a stroke-play format, the tournament will consist of four rounds, with each round covering 18 holes. After two rounds, the top 50 players and ties will advance to the next stage. The course is set at a par of 72.

Additional notable competitors include esteemed Indian professionals such as Yuvraj Sandhu, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Varun Parikh, Shaurya Binu, Sachin Baisoya, Aman Raj, Karandeep Kochhar, and Chikkarangappa S.

International participants include Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek, Sri Lankans N. Thangaraja and K. Prabagaran, American Koichiro Sato, Italian Federico Zucchetti, Uganda’s Joshua Seale, Bangladeshis Md Siddikur Rahman, Jamal Hossain, Badal Hossain, Md Akbar Hossain, Md Jakiruzzaman Jakir, Md Somrat Sikdar, Md Muaj, and Md Razu, along with Nepal’s Sukra Bahadur Rai and Subash Tamang.

Representing Ahmedabad, the PGTI winner Varun Parikh will be joined by professionals Jay Pandya and Dhruv Suri. The amateur participant from Ahmedabad is Islam Khan.

The third amateur in the tournament is Harjai Milkha Singh, the teenage son of Indian golf icon Jeev Milkha Singh, hailing from Chandigarh.
