Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) honored cricket icons Dilip Vengsarkar and Diana Edulji with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award for their remarkable contributions to the game.
Both Vengsarkar and Edulji have played pivotal roles in the success of Mumbai and Indian cricket, not just as athletes but also as influential administrators. They received their accolades at a spectacular Annual Awards Function at the Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy and Recreation Centre in BKC, Mumbai, where the MCA also celebrated the city’s cricketing achievements and acknowledged the outstanding performers of the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
The awards were presented in the presence of C. P. Radhakrishnan, Governor of Maharashtra, and Ashish Shelar, Minister of Information Technology & Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, alongside MCA president Ajinkya Naik and members of the Apex Council.
A member of the victorious 1983 World Cup team, Vengsarkar captained India in 10 Tests and 18 ODIs and later took on roles as MCA Vice-President and Chairman of the BCCI’s Selection Committee. Edulji, who had a 17-year international career, was instrumental in the growth and recognition of women’s cricket in India.
Former MCA Vice-President Prof. Ratnakar Shetty and Pravin Barve were also recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their significant contributions to cricket administration.

The MCA also celebrated the success of the Ajinkya Rahane-led Ranji Trophy champions and other Mumbai teams for their outstanding performances in domestic tournaments during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. They awarded the Sharad Pawar Scholarship to 15 exceptional young players, fostering their cricket ambitions and encouraging them to leave their mark in the cricketing arena.
