Talent scouts from Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have arrived in Ranchi to assess players at the inaugural Jharkhand T20 Cricket League, signalling the competition's growing stature as a pipeline for elite domestic talent. The scouts were present at the JSCA International Stadium Complex on 16 June, marking one of the first direct IPL franchise visits to the state-level tournament.

MI is represented by former India wicketkeeper-batter Naman Ojha, while Gokul Sharma, a domestic cricket veteran, is attending on behalf of RCB. Their presence underlines how quickly the league has earned recognition beyond Jharkhand's borders.

A League Built on Momentum

The Jharkhand T20 Cricket League launched to considerable fanfare, with India's World Cup-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni present at its inauguration. The tournament has since attracted nationwide attention from cricket followers and secured strong corporate backing — a combination that has accelerated its credibility in its debut season.

Gokul Sharma indicated that RCB had launched its scouting operations early in the season as part of a deliberate strategy to deepen its domestic talent pool. We had a strong last season, but we remain highly focused on infusing fresh, high-quality domestic talent into our setup. We initiated our scouting operations almost immediately. Having seasoned stalwarts like Saurabh Tiwary and Shahbaz Nadeem actively embedded within the association's ecosystem ensures that the local game will inherently thrive and grow, he said.

The presence of established names within the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) structure — including former India players Tiwary and Nadeem — has been cited as a key factor in the league's rapid rise.
