Mickey Arthur Named Director of Cricket for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred
Mickey Arthur, currently the head of cricket at Derbyshire, has been appointed as the Director of Cricket for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred. In this capacity, he will oversee recruitment for both men’s and women’s teams and support head coaches Andrew Flintoff and Lisa Keightley.

New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) Mickey Arthur, the head of cricket at Derbyshire, has been officially appointed as the Director of Cricket for the Northern Superchargers franchise in The Hundred. As part of his new responsibilities, Arthur will play a crucial role in recruitment for both the men's and women's teams and will extend support to the head coaches, Andrew Flintoff and Lisa Keightley.

Derbyshire confirmed that Arthur will continue with the team during the Metro Bank One-Day Cup season, after which his involvement with The Hundred, whose fifth season kicks off in August, will transition to a largely advisory capacity.

“I’m thrilled to assume this role with Northern Superchargers and can’t wait to commence work ahead of the 2025 edition of The Hundred. Even though Northern Superchargers have yet to secure any trophies in the tournament, both the men’s and women’s teams have demonstrated considerable potential and strong performances over the years,” Arthur stated.

“I’m eager to collaborate with Freddie Flintoff and Lisa Keightley to cultivate competitive squads and foster a culture that will lead us to success in 2025. I also extend my gratitude to Derbyshire for their support as I take on this dual responsibility alongside our ongoing project at The County Ground.

“My primary commitment remains with Derbyshire, and I am dedicated to attaining our objectives of achieving success for the Club. We encourage our players and coaches to enhance their skills in diverse environments, and this opportunity exemplifies that. The demand for our personnel reflects the diligent work being done behind the scenes, and we anticipate positive results on the field soon,” Arthur added.

In The Hundred, Arthur succeeds Marcus North, who has stepped down after three years with the team. At age 56, Arthur brings a wealth of international coaching experience from South Africa, as well as his time with Australia, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, the latter of which he led to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.

Mickey remains fully dedicated to Derbyshire; his passion for the Club is evident, and we hope he can use this position to showcase Derbyshire’s quality. This winter has been fruitful, with Mickey, Wayne Madsen, and Zak Chappell securing trophies abroad, while Harry Moore and Pat Brown have represented us in the England squad recently,” stated Arthur in a statement.

“Our squad has been diligently training throughout the winter, and this effort will intensify in the coming months to maximize our chances of success in 2025, with an exciting summer on the horizon,” commented Ryan Duckett, Derbyshire’s Chief Executive.
