New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has firmly dismissed the “inaccurate” and “irrelevant” media allegations suggesting that he and his family were implicated in a domestic violence and dowry harassment case initiated by his wife.

Reports indicate that Mishra's wife has lodged a complaint demanding Rs 1 crore in damages, claiming that the cricketer's family sought Rs 10 lakh and a car during their wedding.

The 42-year-old not only refuted these claims but also warned of potential legal action against those misusing his name and image in “unrelated reports”.

“I’m deeply disheartened by the information being circulated in the media. I have always held the press in high regard, but while the news may have some accuracy, the image used is mine—which is entirely wrong. The misuse of my image for unrelated stories must cease immediately, or I will have to resort to legal measures,” Mishra stated on X.

The leg-spinner has played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, taking 76, 64, and 16 wickets, respectively. He has also recorded four half-centuries in Test cricket.

Throughout his career, Mishra has represented four different IPL teams, including the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, as well as Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has achieved 174 wickets in 162 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 7.37. Notably, he is the only bowler to have achieved three hat-tricks in IPL history, accomplishing this with three different franchises.

His most recent participation in competitive cricket was during the IPL 2024 season, where he played one match for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants, recording figures of 1-20 in two overs after being brought in as an impact substitute for Riyan Parag.
