Mumbai, Sep 28 (NationPress) The former captain of Delhi, Mithun Manhas, has been appointed as the new president of the BCCI. In addition, Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia have been re-elected as vice-president and secretary, respectively, during the 94th Annual General Meeting held at the BCCI headquarters this past Sunday.

Furthermore, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has taken over from Rohan Gauns Desai as joint secretary, while Raghuram Bhat has been elected as treasurer.

BCCI secretary Saikia noted that all apex council members were elected unopposed, with no rivals for the positions that had received nominations.

The presidency of the BCCI became available when Roger Binny resigned from his position in August 2025, prompting Shukla to serve as the interim president. With this election, Manhas has become the third former cricketer, following Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, to hold the presidency.

The 45-year-old ex-cricketer played domestic cricket for Delhi before transitioning to Jammu and Kashmir, where he also embraced coaching duties.

"It is an incredible honor to lead the world's premier cricket board, and I recognize the immense responsibility that comes with it. I assure you of my unwavering commitment to serve to the best of my abilities, with passion and dedication," Manhas expressed upon his election.

Additionally, Jaydev Shah, president of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, has been elected as a member of the Apex Council, and Arun Dhumal, chairman of the IPL Governing Council, has retained his position.

New additions to the Ajit Agarkar-led men’s selection committee include former India internationals R.P. Singh and Pragyan Ojha. The junior cricket committee welcomes former Tamil Nadu player S. Sharath as chairman, alongside Harvinder Sodhi, Pathik Patel, Krishna Mohan, and Ranadeb Bose.

Former cricketer Amita Sharma is now the chairperson of the women’s selection panel, succeeding Neetu David. She will be joined by Shyama Dey, Jaya Sharma, Sulakshana Naik, and Sravanthi Naidu.
