Mumbai, Sep 28 (NationPress) Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas has been chosen as the new President of the BCCI, while Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia have been re-elected as Vice-President and Secretary, respectively, during the 94th Annual General Meeting that took place at the BCCI headquarters this past Sunday.
Additionally, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has taken over from Rohan Gauns Desai as Joint Secretary, and Raghuram Bhat has been elected as Treasurer.
BCCI Secretary Saikia mentioned that all apex council members were elected unopposed due to the lack of opposition against the candidates who submitted their nominations for their respective positions.
The position of BCCI President became vacant after Roger Binny resigned from his role in August 2025, with Shukla temporarily stepping in as the interim President. With his election, Manhas joins the ranks of only two other former cricketers, Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, to hold the presidency.
At 45, this former cricketer played domestic cricket for Delhi before transitioning to Jammu and Kashmir, where he also took on coaching responsibilities.
"It's an incredible honor to be the President of the world's premier cricket board, and I recognize the tremendous responsibility it entails. I promise to dedicate myself fully to this role with my utmost abilities and passion," said Manhas upon his election.
Furthermore, Jaydev Shah, President of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, has been elected as a member of the Apex Council, while Arun Dhumal retains his position as chairman of the IPL Governing Council.
Former Indian internationals R.P. Singh and Pragyan Ojha have been newly appointed to the Ajit Agarkar-led men’s selection committee. In addition, S. Sharath, a former Tamil Nadu batter, has been appointed as the chairman of the junior cricket committee, along with members Harvinder Sodhi, Pathik Patel, Krishna Mohan, and Ranadeb Bose.
Former cricketer Amita Sharma has been named the chairperson of the women’s selection panel, succeeding Neetu David. She will be joined by Shyama Dey, Jaya Sharma, Sulakshana Naik, and Sravanthi Naidu.
