Navi Mumbai, January 13 (NationPress) The Mumbai Indians secured the toss and opted to bowl first against the Gujarat Giants in the sixth encounter of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026, held at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.
Returning to the lineup for the Mumbai Indians is a fit-again Hayley Matthews, while Nat Sciver Brunt is sidelined due to illness. The Giants introduced Ayushi Soni for her debut, replacing Anushka Sharma, who is out with an injury.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur of the Mumbai Indians stated, "We are opting to bowl first. In T20 cricket, particularly during night matches, it’s generally advantageous to chase.
