New Delhi, May 26 (NationPress) Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has officially joined the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday, just in time for the IPL 2025 playoffs.

Muzarabani was brought on board as a temporary substitute for Lungi Ngidi, who is set to depart for South Africa to prepare for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The franchise secured the Zimbabwean pacer for a sum of Rs 75 lakh.

Recently, he participated in Zimbabwe's remarkable Test match against England at Trent Bridge, a game the visitors lost by an innings and 75 runs. Despite the loss, he emerged as the top wicket-taker for Zimbabwe, boasting figures of 3-143.

At 28 years old, Muzarabani is expected to be available for RCB's crucial league match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Tuesday. He has a commendable T20I record, having played 70 matches and taken 78 wickets, in addition to his experience in 13 Tests and 55 ODIs.

While Muzarabani has yet to make an appearance in an IPL match, he has previously worked as a net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants during the time when RCB's current head coach Andy Flower was part of their coaching staff. The two have also collaborated at Multan Sultans in the PSL and Gulf Giants in the ILT20.

Additionally, on Sunday, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood rejoined RCB after recovering from a shoulder injury, further enhancing their bowling lineup for the playoffs. Hazlewood, who is RCB’s leading wicket-taker this season with 18 wickets from just 10 matches, had been sidelined since April 27. He returned to Australia during the brief suspension of the IPL due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

After completing rehab at home, he resumed training in Brisbane as part of Australia’s preparation for the upcoming WTC final against South Africa. Following successful training sessions, he is now back with the RCB squad.

RCB is aiming to secure a top-two finish with a victory over LSG in Lucknow. However, a loss would drop them to third or fourth place, regardless of the outcome of the match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
