Nagesh Trophy: Odisha and U.P. Shine on Day 5 in Group C

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Dec 17 (NationPress) Significant victories for Odisha and Uttar Pradesh marked Day 5 of the 7th edition of the Men's National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2024-25, widely referred to as the Nagesh Trophy at the KT Global Ground here on Tuesday. This win propelled Odisha to the top of the Group C standings, while Madhya Pradesh occupied the second position despite their defeat on Tuesday. Currently, five teams in Group C are competing fiercely for glory at the ongoing Nagesh Trophy, which kicked off on December 13.
In the opening match, Odisha faced off against Madhya Pradesh. The host team, Odisha, triumphed by a narrow margin of one run, finishing with a score of 97/2 in 12.1 overs, whereas Madhya Pradesh could only manage 96/10 in 17 overs. Md Jafar Iqbal from Odisha was honored as the Player of the Match.
In the day's second match, Uttar Pradesh secured a decisive victory, amassing 216/7 in their full 20 overs. In response, Tripura was bowled out for 140 runs in 19.3 overs.
Balmukund Chaturvedi of Uttar Pradesh received the Player of the Match accolade for his remarkable innings of 65 runs off 38 balls. With the conclusion of the Group C matches on Tuesday, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh emerged as the leaders of Group C.
The league matches of this year’s Nagesh Trophy are being conducted across six venues, culminating in the Super 8 stage set for February 2025. A total of 28 teams, including representatives from various states and union territories, along with an Indian Railways team, are competing for the championship.
