Nagesh Trophy: Telangana and Gujarat Showcase Dominance on Day 4 with Commanding Victories

Hyderabad (Telangana), Dec 26 (NationPress) Telangana and Gujarat achieved significant victories on Day 4 of the 7th edition of the Men's National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2024-25, commonly referred to as the Nagesh Trophy, taking place here on Thursday, thereby boosting their chances of moving forward from Group D with impressive wins.

The Group D league matches of the 7th Nagesh Trophy began on Monday, featuring five teams vying for success in this esteemed tournament.

In the opening match of the day held at JB Cricket Ground, Gujarat confronted Maharashtra. Gujarat won the toss and opted to field first. Maharashtra could only manage to score 128/5 in 15 overs. Gujarat triumphed by 10 wickets, achieving 129 runs without losing a wicket in just 8.5 overs. Anil Gariya from Gujarat was awarded Player of the Match for his stellar performance. The match had been shortened to 15 overs due to rainfall.

In the second match, Telangana took on Jammu & Kashmir. Jammu & Kashmir won the toss and chose to bat first. They were bowled out for 120, while Telangana successfully chased down the target, scoring 124/2 with more than 7 overs remaining. Telangana won by 8 wickets. Madhu Gunja was named Player of the Match for his remarkable innings of 60 runs off 43 balls.

This year’s league matches of the Nagesh Trophy are being conducted at six venues and will conclude with the Super 8 stage in February 2025. A total of 28 teams, comprising teams from states, union territories, and Indian Railways, are competing for the championship.
