Key Takeaways
Kanpur, Oct 30 (NationPress) Nidhipati Singhania has been re-elected as the president of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at a private hotel on Thursday, the governing body also elected a fresh set of office bearers and made various sub-committee appointments.
The UPCA announced that while Singhania will continue in his role, other positions have seen new appointments. Prem Manohar Gupta, who previously held the position of treasurer for three years, has taken over as the new UPCA secretary, replacing Arvind Srivastava.
Srivastava will now enter a mandatory cooling-off period after completing a six-year term in two significant roles within the UPCA. Moreover, he has been appointed as the chairman of the ten-member Cricket Development Committee for the 2025/26 season and will report to Gupta.
Rakesh Mishra is now the new vice president, while Omer Mustafa Hasan and Sachin Anand Shukla, who is the nephew of BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla, will serve as joint secretary and treasurer, respectively. All office bearers were elected unopposed for a new three-year term.
Sanjay Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar Singh have joined the governing council, while the Apex Council will comprise eleven members. Kapoor has been appointed as the Chairman of the UP T20 League governing council, succeeding former Uttar Pradesh DGP DS Chauhan in this position.
In a significant development, the UPCA’s International Match Organising Committee will feature BCCI vice president Shukla as co-chairman and UPCA president Singhania as a special invitee, with DS Chauhan as the chairman.
The Women’s Cricket Governing Council will be spearheaded by Navneet Sehgal, with former Indian women's chief selector Neetu David among its members.
Infrastructure enhancement remains a top priority, with Shukla appointed as chairman of the Varanasi International Stadium Committee, while Riasat Ali heads the committee for the Ghaziabad International Stadium. Both committees have the support of senior UPCA officials and district representatives.
