Novice Cup: Liron Jaden Claims Victory, Momentum Motorsport Takes Team Title

Coimbatore, Dec 21 (NationPress) DTS Racing's Liron Jaden Samuels (37 points) narrowly defeated Aditya Patnaik (31 points) from Momentum Motorsports, emerging as the overall champion of the Novice Cup, part of the 27th FMSCI National Racing Championship, at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam on Saturday.

Both Liron and Aditya Patnaik achieved a remarkable double on a day filled with unexpected twists. Aditya managed an impressive win in the fourth and final race of the day, claiming a triple victory. However, he faced a setback with a 10-second penalty for a jump start in the fourth race, which dropped him to fourth place. Liron finished second in the race, allowing him to ascend to the top and further increase his points total.

Despite the close competition, Momentum Motorsports celebrated their team championship, accumulating 63 points. DTS Racing, despite a valiant effort, fell short by just two points.

Earlier, M-Sport's Abhay, who had secured third and second positions in previous races, came well-prepared for the final challenge. The 16-year-old from Bengaluru skillfully balanced caution with aggression, dominating the third race of the day. Starting from P3, he overtook leader Liron midway through the race and maintained consistent lap times to secure the top position.

On Friday, Liron (from Tirunelveli) and his DTS Racing teammate Lokith L. Ravi (from Pollachi) locked in the top two spots in the first race. The leading racers made critical errors in the penultimate lap, enabling Liron and Lokith to capitalize on the situation and charge to victory.

Abhay finished in third place, while other top contenders were left to ponder their mistakes. Liron, feeling fortunate, emphasized that their success stemmed from maintaining composure and taking advantage of others' errors.

In the second race, Aditya took charge from the outset. Nonetheless, he faced intense competition from Abhay, who was always close behind. Despite the pressure, the 18-year-old from Navi Mumbai held his ground through a safety car situation and ultimately cross the finish line first.
