ONGC Hosts 7th Para Games 2026, Welcoming 300 Athletes

New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) officially launched the 7th edition of the ONGC Para Games 2026 at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi. This four-day sporting event has attracted nearly 300 Divyang athletes from eight public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the oil and gas industry.
Hosted by ONGC, this inter-PSU tournament features employee-athletes from ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Engineers India Limited (EIL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Oil India Limited (OIL), and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).
The athletes are set to compete in various para sports disciplines, aiming to create an inclusive sporting environment for Divyang employees within the oil and gas sector.
During the opening ceremony, ONGC Director (Production) Pankaj Kumar remarked, “The ONGC Para Games signify our unified commitment across oil PSUs to honor and uplift the unique strengths of our Divyang colleagues. In an industry where teamwork, precision, and resilience are essential, inclusion transforms into a valuable asset that enhances our organizational effectiveness. The participants inspire us to push our limits, and we aspire to learn from their tenacity and spirit.”
Rajarshi Gupta, Managing Director of ONGC Videsh Limited, praised the athletes for their determination and stressed that genuine strength comes from persistent effort and resolve.
Manish Patil, ONGC Director (HR), emphasized the transformative influence of sports in building character and promoting a culture of inclusion and engagement. He noted that the continuous growth of the Para Games since its inception in 2017 illustrates how such initiatives bolster confidence and foster a sense of belonging among employees.
The 2026 edition of the Games will showcase competitions in athletics, badminton, table tennis, and wheelchair racing. Athletes will compete in various classifications, including those for hearing and speech impairment, visual impairment, upper and lower limb disabilities, and wheelchair categories. The event will also see participation from several national and international para-sportspersons.
