Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lahore, April 10 (NationPress) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially revealed that Pakistan is set to compete against Zimbabwe in a six-match white-ball series commencing next month. This series is a vital preparation for Pakistan in anticipation of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in England from June 12 to July 5.
This tour will be historic as it marks Zimbabwe's inaugural visit to Pakistan for a women's bilateral series. All six matches, which include three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), will take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The series will kick off with the ODI matches on May 3, followed by the T20I fixtures starting on May 12. The Zimbabwean team is expected to arrive in Karachi on April 29, and both teams will engage in practice sessions from April 30 to May 2.
The three-match ODI series, scheduled for May 3, 6, and 9, is particularly significant as it falls under the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle. Currently, Pakistan holds the fifth position in the championship standings with two points.
After the Zimbabwe series, Pakistan will head to Ireland for a T20I tri-series that includes the hosts and the 2016 champions, West Indies, from May 28 to June 4, prior to competing in the main event of the shortest format in England.
Pakistan has been placed in Group 1 of the T20 World Cup, alongside India, South Africa, Bangladesh, six-time champions Australia, and the Netherlands.
