Lahore, Jan 14 (NationPress) The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially stated that Pakistan will host Australia for a series of three T20 internationals from January 29 to February. These matches are scheduled to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Australian T20I squad is set to arrive in Lahore on January 28. This series serves as vital preparation for both teams ahead of the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2026.
PCB COO Sumair Ahmed Syed expressed enthusiasm, stating, "This tour signifies an exciting start to the year for fans of Pakistan Cricket, and I encourage them to show up in large numbers to support both teams as they finalize their T20 World Cup preparations."
This marks Australia's third visit to Pakistan since their tour in March-April 2022, during which they participated in a three-match Test and ODI series, followed by a single T20I. Additionally, they played three matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the country.
In 2022, Australia clinched a narrow three-wicket victory in the only T20I held at Gaddafi Stadium.
"I’m confident that the Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar venue for the Australian cricket team, having played a Test, five ODIs, and a T20I here since March 2022," he noted.
Pakistan is grouped in Group A for the T20 World Cup alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the United States. Their opening match is against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.
The 2009 T20 World Cup winners faced disappointment in their last outing, being eliminated in the group stage, while they were runners-up in the 2022 tournament.
On the other hand, Australia finds itself in Group B along with co-hosts Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman.
