IPL 2026: Rishabh Pant Praises Bharat Arun's Impact on LSG's Bowling
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) Captain Rishabh Pant has emphasized the need for enhancing the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) bowling lineup in preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He mentioned that the inclusion of seasoned coach Bharat Arun is already yielding beneficial results as the team aims to secure the IPL trophy in the forthcoming season.
Pant elaborated that the coaching staff recognized bowling as a vital aspect to bolster following a disappointing performance in the previous season. He noted that Arun’s wealth of experience, effective communication, and ability to foster trust among bowlers have cultivated a more confident and open atmosphere within the team.
"The training sessions with the fast bowlers have been remarkable. Since Bharat Arun joined us, he has significantly contributed. We've engaged in numerous discussions about my expectations from the bowlers and his insights. The energy is palpable. He is among the finest bowling coaches, and I have full confidence in him, given our previous collaboration with the Indian cricket team. His experience is invaluable," Pant stated on Jio Hotstar.
"The bowlers have faith in him and feel comfortable approaching him, which is precisely what you desire from a bowling coach; he enhances the overall system. Reflecting on last season, we realized the need to enhance our bowling. He is undoubtedly someone who can make a significant impact in that domain, and I am genuinely pleased to have him on board," he added.
Pant also highlighted the significance of fostering a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere within the dressing room. He underscored that embracing the game positively influences player performance.
"I believe everyone is in a joyful mood these days because the environment is inherently stressful. Everyone desires to relish each other’s company; you can sense that camaraderie, affection, and enjoyment. If you bear excessive stress and neglect enjoyment, it may hinder your performance," he remarked.
"You don’t want to perceive it merely as work. I often mention that as children, why did we play cricket? There is a lot at stake, and the stakes will continue to rise, but one should not cease enjoying the game and having fun. This seems to be lacking nowadays, and if players can revive that spirit, they will be much happier," he observed.
Pant, who missed India's ODI series against New Zealand in January due to a side strain and has not played since, expressed that he is in a positive frame of mind and is committed to self-improvement.
"I feel I am in a good place, physically and mentally. I strive to work on myself every day, and I find joy in that, as it is crucial to invest time in self-improvement. As long as you are actively playing cricket, that’s what matters. All the senior players I converse with emphasize that in cricket, one cannot afford to be complacent, even for a single day. Today could be your day, but tomorrow might not be, and the situation can change again the following day. Therefore, it’s essential to keep pushing hard," he stated.
"Decision-making and managing situations are critical, but consistently enhancing yourself, even when things are favorable, is vital. I believe there are only two states in life: either you’re doing well or you’re doing okay; there’s no such thing as bad. Often, we fail to appreciate our journey, where we began, and the effort we have put in to reach our current standing. At the same time, it’s important not to take it for granted," Pant added.
According to the 20-match schedule released by the BCCI, Pant’s LSG will face off against the Delhi Capitals at their home venue, Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, on April 1.
