Hyderabad, April 11 (NationPress) Following a convincing 18-run victory over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) earlier this week in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Punjab Kings are gearing up to challenge the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Saturday.
While Shreyas Iyer's team has secured three wins out of four matches, the hosts have suffered four consecutive defeats and are desperately seeking a victory. Nevertheless, Punjab Kings' emerging player Nehal Wadhera emphasized that his team will not underestimate their opponents in the upcoming match.
During the pre-match press conference, the left-handed batsman stated, "SRH is a formidable side. Just because they’ve faced some losses doesn’t mean they pose any less threat to us. They are undoubtedly a strong team on paper. We are approaching this game with the same intensity as we did in our previous matches. We are optimistic about securing a win on their home turf."
The Kings enter the match following an impressive batting display against CSK, highlighted by a remarkable century from young talent Priyansh Arya. Wadhera mentioned that the whole team is filled with confidence and a positive vibe in the dressing room.
"Everyone seems confident. We are in great form and believe in our capabilities for the upcoming match. Priyansh delivered one of the most exceptional innings in the IPL against CSK, especially considering it was just his fourth game in his inaugural season. All credit goes to him. Also, the batting performance from Shashank Singh was outstanding. He formed a solid partnership with Priyansh and Marco Jansen, which was commendable," Wadhera remarked.
"This is my first season here with Punjab. The bond among the players and coaching staff is excellent. We’ve cultivated a healthy relationship within the squad. Support for one another is crucial in a demanding tournament like the IPL. When someone is having an off day, the rest of the team rallies behind them. These fundamentals are essential for building a stronger team and achieving more victories," he added.
Australian powerhouse Glenn Maxwell has yet to find his rhythm this season, managing only 31 runs in four matches. However, Wadhera reassured that there are no worries regarding his performance, asserting that Maxwell is just one innings away from delivering a standout performance this season.
"I don't believe there are any issues concerning Maxwell. We all recognize his talent. He can change the outcome of any game on his day. He’s a confident player, and we all trust him, including coach Ricky Ponting. He looks sharp in practice, and we expect to see a strong innings from him shortly," the 24-year-old concluded.
