Sharma closed with a one-under 69 to finish at 21-under 259, edging out Noida's Amardeep Malik by a single stroke in the tournament's 12th edition.

Sharma entered the final round with a four-shot cushion, but the route to the title was anything but smooth. His closing 69 included seven birdies, four bogeys, and a double bogey, allowing Malik to close the gap to one. The pivotal moment came after a double bogey on the par-four 13th, where Sharma responded with back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th to steady his campaign.

'The double bogey came down to nerves,' Sharma said. 'I hit one poor shot and then attempted a recovery that wasn't really available, so I paid the price. But the two birdies that followed helped me hold the lead.' A composed lag putt on the 18th sealed the win. 'The lag putt on the 18th was particularly important and helped me finish the job,' he added.

Prize Money and Order of Merit Impact

Sharma collected ₹15 lakh in prize money, lifting him from 25th to 14th on the 2026 DP World PGTI Order of Merit. His season earnings now stand at ₹30,93,550, and the victory secured his berth in the DP World India Championship. It was his 33rd DP World PGTI start since joining the tour last season, with his previous best result being a sixth-place finish at the Boulders Classic in April.

Malik, Akshay Sharma and the Rest of the Leaderboard

Runner-up Amardeep Malik (61-65-68-66) posted a closing four-under 66 to finish at 20-under 260, earning ₹10 lakh. His final round featured an eagle on the par-five sixth, six birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey. Malik moved from 22nd to 19th on the Order of Merit, with season earnings of ₹27,75,748.

Chandigarh's Akshay Sharma produced the round of the tournament — a stunning 10-under 60 that matched the course record, featuring an eagle, 10 birdies, and two bogeys, including four successive birdies from the third through the sixth. He shared third place at 19-under 261 alongside Delhi's Honey Baisoya, who carded a 65 with seven birdies and two bogeys, earning ₹5,49,800. Baisoya reinforced his hold on third in the season rankings with total earnings of ₹57,21,892.

Chandigarh's Angad Cheema (66-67-66-66) finished fifth at 15-under 265, while Ajeetesh Sandhu was sixth at 14-under 266. Delhi's Rashid Khan and Kshitij Naveed Kaul shared seventh at 13-under 267.

Notable Moments: Aces and Rankings Leader

The week produced four holes-in-one. Defending champion Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh, who finished tied 30th at two-under 278, recorded an ace on the par-three third in his final round. Earlier in the week, Abhinav Lohan and Anshul Kabthiyal both aced the par-three 11th in the second round, and Harman Sachdeva holed out on the par-three seventh.

Current DP World PGTI Rankings leader Saptak Talwar — who spent the summer on the HotelPlanner Tour — finished 11th at 11-under 269, earning ₹1,84,700 to extend his lead at the top, with season earnings reaching ₹89,32,384.

'I'm over the moon. It still hasn't completely sunk in,' Sharma said. 'To claim my first professional title at 19, and to do it at my home course, makes this victory incredibly special.' Sharma recalled attending a DP World PGTI event at HGA as a junior in 2021, watching the professionals compete on the very course where he has now won. He thanked his parents, sister, coach Sanjay Singh, the HGA, and the home crowd for their support throughout the final round.

With a maiden title secured and a spot in the India Championship confirmed, Vishesh Sharma's breakthrough at Hyderabad signals the arrival of a new name to watch on the PGTI circuit.
