New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Under the expert guidance of Paralympic gold medalist Heinrich Popow and with access to state-of-the-art prosthetic solutions, Ottobock, a leading international provider of customized prosthetic and orthotic mobility solutions, in partnership with the Paralympic Committee of India, is conducting a three-day Running Clinic that commenced on Monday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The two-time gold medalist at the Para Games emphasized the significance of such initiatives and how sports empower athletes to tackle challenges more effectively.

"The running clinic event is something that comes from the bottom of my heart. This initiative fosters unity and is one of the most inspiring events within the community of individuals with disabilities.

"I truly cherish the opportunity to share all my experiences and knowledge accumulated during my athletic career. As an orthopedic technician, this presents a unique chance to convene and discuss the obstacles we face. Amputees in India encounter similar challenges as those in Germany, and the solution is the same: sports. Sports is the universal language, sports is the finest medicine, and through sports, we can truly navigate challenges with ease.

Over the course of three days, 15 athletes engaged in various activities. On Day 1, athletes were equipped with running blades and took part in dedicated sessions to perfect vital running techniques. Day 2 escalated with intense training exercises followed by a cricket match aimed at enhancing confidence and building community ties. Throughout these sessions, Heinrich provided personalized mentorship and shared his expertise with each athlete.

The concluding day will feature a session with notable delegates, including Heinrich Popow: Paralympic gold medalist, Rahul Swami: CEO of the Paralympic Committee of India, Mats Frank: Managing Director of Ottobock, Deepa Malik: Former President of the Paralympic Committee of India, and Ms. Manmeet Kaur: Joint Secretary Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.

“The message is to concentrate on the fundamentals and maintain motivation. Never allow your aspirations to be diminished by those who question your abilities. I recall when I began my journey as an athlete, many said that running swiftly with an amputation was challenging. I understand it's tough, but once you achieve it, the difficult aspects become enjoyable; repetition is the key,” he remarked.

The Running Clinic is set to act as a catalyst for transformation in India’s landscape concerning movement-related disabilities. By empowering amputees with the necessary skills, confidence, and technology to compete at elite levels, it is breaking down obstacles and paving the way towards genuine sporting inclusivity.
