Barwani (M.P.), March 28 (NationPress) The Pro Panja League organized thrilling Mega Matches on the holy banks of the Narmada River in Badwani/Barwani, Madhya Pradesh. The competitions featured five categories, including 60kg, 60+ kg, and 100+ kg.

This remarkable event took place on Thursday evening, co-hosted by Manoj Patel from the Barwani District Association. Arm wrestlers showcased their skills across these five categories.

The tournament kicked off with the 60kg category, where Sachin Tomar triumphed over Shoaib Akhtar with a score of 3-0. In the 65+kg category, Asha Kumar narrowly defeated Kritika Bamel 3-2, while in the 100+kg category, Manish Kumar overcame Sunil Anthony 3-2.

In the specially-abled category, Devendra Yadav secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Manoj Patel. Additionally, multiple-time national and state champion, Jogendra Yadav, representing the Mumbai Muscle franchise, won against Divakar Jadon 3-0 in the 75kg category.

Commenting on the event, Parvinn Dabass, co-founder of Pro Panja, expressed, “We are excited to bring the Pro Panja League to Madhya Pradesh, especially on the sacred banks of the Narmada River. It was a wonderful experience to promote arm wrestling as a sport while honoring our rich cultural heritage.

“We aim to introduce the sport to captivating locations across the country, allowing audiences to discover both the sport and hidden tourist gems of Bharat. Our commitment is to provide a platform for talented athletes nationwide, fostering growth in the sport,” he added.

Preeti Jhangiani, another co-founder, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “As the president of PAFI and Vice-President of the Asian Arm Wrestling Federation, I want to emphasize the significance of hosting such events across the country.

“We have witnessed tremendous growth in professional arm wrestlers and fans of the sport, thanks to these events. We pledge to continue exploring new states and helping athletes showcase their talent,” she mentioned.

Launched in 2023, the Pro Panja League (PPL) features six teams vying for supremacy.

Each team competes against every other team twice during the round-robin phase, followed by playoffs where the top four teams (based on points scored) face off in two semifinals (1st vs 4th, and 2nd vs 3rd) before the final.

The six teams in the league are Kiraak Hyderabad, Mumbai Muscle, Rohtak Rowdies, Ludhiana Lions, Baroda Badshahs, and Kochi KD, with a total of 180 players competing in 10 distinct weight categories.
