Pune, March 7 (NationPress) The Pune district team faced challenges in securing full points, while Mumbai Suburb found their rhythm in the second half. Meanwhile, Nagpur and Yavatmal displayed impressive scoring abilities on the inaugural day of the Sub-Junior Category at the Ashmita Hockey State League, held at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar-Pimpri, on Friday.

In the concluding match of the day, Pune triumphed over Thane with a narrow 1-0 scoreline in Group A. The decisive goal was netted by Parnavi Kanse (47’) who skillfully scored from close range, following a goalless first half.

Earlier, in a mid-afternoon showdown in Group A, Mumbai Suburb dominated Nashik with a convincing 5-0 victory, largely thanks to a brace from Arya Jadhav (34' & 56'). Additional goals came from Yukti Dabho (39'), Tanaysha Machado (56'), and a last-minute effort by Nirja Redkar (60').

Later, Nagpur secured a definitive 4-0 win against Sangli in Group B. The goals were scored by Palak Veware (10’, 36’), Shirawani Tulankar (32’), and Maitree Thakare (50’) from a penalty corner.
