New Delhi, July 7 (NationPress) R Sai Kishore, the talented left-arm spinner from India, has officially entered into a short-term agreement to play for Surrey in their upcoming two County Championship matches. Having represented India in three T20 internationals and played for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Kishore recently led IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to victory in the 2025 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
“I’m extremely thrilled to join Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey is renowned as one of the finest clubs globally, and I’ve received glowing feedback about their setup from various figures in the game,” Kishore expressed in a statement released by the club on Monday.
Kishore will be part of Surrey's squad for their next two matches in County Championship Division One, where the Kookaburra ball will be utilized. He will travel to Scarborough to face Yorkshire from July 22-25, followed by a match against Durham at Chester-le-Street from July 29 to August 1.
In addition to his County Championship stint, Kishore also leads Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy and has an impressive record of 192 First-Class wickets from 46 matches at an average of 23.5. With the bat, he has accumulated 792 runs, with a top score of 81.
“I’m pleased to welcome the highly regarded Sai Kishore into our squad for the next two Kookaburra games. All reports I’ve received from respected sources within Indian cricket speak very highly of him. His four-day performance for Tamil Nadu is commendable, and he adds valuable leadership experience to our team,” remarked Alec Stewart, Surrey’s High-Performance advisor.
Besides Kishore, other notable players such as Tilak Varma (Hampshire), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Yorkshire), Yuzvendra Chahal (Northamptonshire), and Khaleel Ahmed (Essex) are participating in the current County Championship season, while Ishan Kishan recently concluded a two-match agreement with Nottinghamshire.
Kishore's debut for Surrey could see him compete against Gaikwad, who will be representing Yorkshire. This brief engagement with Surrey presents Kishore with an invaluable opportunity to gain playing time and bolster his prospects for future red-ball selections at the national level, especially following the recent selections of younger left-arm spinners Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey for India A's tour to England.
